Dolly Parton was born on the 19th January, 1946 on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She lived with 12 other children. The vivid imagination of her mother was a great way to get away from the pressures of daily life. Even before learning to read or write, she composed herself songs. The guitar that she first received was presented to her when she turned eighteen. She started singing at a Knoxville Tenn station by the age of eleven. The following year, she made her debut album for Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. Although she became an established local celebrity while at High School, she knew her ambitions were much bigger. The day she was able to graduate from high school, it was 1964. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were her first two charting albums on Monument Records. At about this time Porter Wagoner was looking for the next girl to perform on the show he had syndicated to television. Parton was hired in 1967 she signed with RCA Records by 1968, and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In 1974, she quit Wagoner's Show because the success of her singles like Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was surpassing their joint albums.
