Taylor

Taylor Swift may be the most unusual of pop artists: one who could effectively bridge the gap between pop and country, conquering the globe. Swift removed herself from the country genre like a second skin and proved she had the finest pop sensibility of the time. Swift was the only singer/songwriter who knew how to take the popular zeitgeist when she went on tour. Swift's first hits, particularly her neo tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her skills. But her 2008 album Fearless showed a singer-songwriter who was beginning to discover herself, and finding a large audience. The album ended up with a lot of legs not only within the U.S. where it racked the record with six platinum singles, due to the Top Ten hits Love Story and Belong with Me Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well in Australia, U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift reached the heights of stardom with Speak Now. She grew in popularity throughout her three subsequent albums - Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift was now firmly established within an industry she felt was hers to be. She stayed at the top of pop until she reverted to her style with her sibling albums folklore & Evermore in the year 2020.
